Land Rover
Bertie

Bertie is a 1997 Land Rover Defender 90 station wagon, serial number 185. Like his namesake, Bertie Wooster, he is English and oblivious of obstacles in his path.

Pictures of Bertie

Unfortunately, we've not yet been able to have Bertie in fun places along with a camera at the same time, so you're going to have to wait for the obligatory pictures of a Landie at strange angles.

Land Rover Sites

These sites are interesting, if not always useful.

Land Rover Information

Land Rover of North America
This is the base site, if you're in the US or Canada. There are good photos, screen savers, sales information, Quicktime VR movies, etc.
The Rover Group
An unofficial site in the UK for both Rover and Land Rover. The Rover Group themselves have a site that isn't built presently.
Softcom AWD site
This is a superb Australian site with history, photos, and pointers.
Rover Web
Large, lots of good information. The Land Rover FAQ is also available here.
Grupo Bavarian Motors
A Panamanian dealers' site. Interesting, and in Spanish.
The Atlas of Land Rover Sites
Bill Caloccia's atlas is large, confusing, and expansive. There's a lot of stuff there. Most importantly, there are pointers to the Land Rover Owners' mailing lists he runs. The easiest way to get on these lists is to send mail to majordomo@land-rover.team.net with commands in the body of the mail message. I recommend subscribing to lro-digest and cso-digest. The lists command will tell you all the lists he serves, including region-soecific lists for the UK and Ireland, South Africa, Europe, and Australia.
Lloyd's Unofficial Land Rover Pages
Another good Aussie site with good pictures.

Owners' Clubs

Southern Land Rover Society
Great GIF animation. I don't say that lightly; usually I consider GIF animations, like frames, to be the work of the devil.
The Toronto Area Rovers Club
Rovers and Land Rovers. They gave me the pointer to the wonderful site:
The Rover Club of Sweeden
This contains a lot of good history about the Rover company proper, from the Rover Safety Bicycle in the last century, to the BMW redesign of the Mini. Land Rovers are featured, but not in detail. A great site.

Personal Pages

The Dormobile Pages
These pages are all about Dormobiles, a camper-conversion for various vehicles. It includes a great tale of driving a Land Rover Dormobile from Maine to California.
Dave Hambley's 101 Site
This site is devoted to the 101-inch forward control Land Rover, which is normally a military vehicle, but a number of people have converted to interesting civilian uses.
Ian Haggis's Rover Page
Lots of amusing things here, including Ian and Dave Hambley ruining their rovers. Of special interest is the page in which Max Lombardi crumps his fibreglass-bodied 1949 Land Rover. Many good pictures and lessons for the wise can be found here.
Todd Mills's Land Rover Page
History, a collection of ASCII art, worldwide prices, lots of links, cool pictures.

Aftermarket Dealers

Rhino Gear
Body armour for Land Rovers.
William Spear's Pins
William Spear makes interesting enamel pins. This is his page of Land Rover pins (from his Humans and Their Toys series).
Rovers North
Supply dealers in Vermont.

Other interesting sites

The Ibex Pages
The Foers Ibex is a specialist all-terrain 4x4 vehicle, designed and built by John Foers, available in complete kit form (body/chassis assembly) requiring donor vehicle parts, or fully finished form to individual customer specification. The drivetrain and running gear are Land Rover Defender sourced. The chassis/spaceframe is fabricated from rectangular hollow section steel, the whole structure being hot dip galvanized prior to panelling. Roll-over protection is built in. All body panels are folded rather than pressed allowing for economical repair. The mark I Ibex features unique semi gull-wing doors which open upwards slightly, held on gas struts. The softer styled Ibex II features conventionally opening doors. Both vehicles have extremely good approach and depart angles across the full wheelbase range.
US DOT vehicle import rules.
For anyone who wanted to see what it would take to import some cool vehicle not normally available in the US.
